Ali sent a piece of gold still embedded in its earth, wrapped in a tanned leather hide, from Yemen to the Messenger of Allah ﷺ. The Messenger of Allah ﷺ divided it among four men, Zayd al-Khayr, Aqra bin Habis, Uyayna bin Hisn, and Alqama bin Ulatha, or Amir bin Tufayl, Umara was uncertain. Some of his companions, the Ansar, and others were upset by this, so the Messenger of Allah ﷺ said, "Will you not trust me, when I am the trusted one of Him who is in heaven? News from heaven comes to me morning and evening."Then a man came forward with sunken eyes, prominent cheekbones, a bulging forehead, a thick beard, his lower garment hitched up, and his head shaven. He said, "Fear Allah, Messenger of Allah."The Prophet raised his head toward him and said, "Woe to you. Am I not the most deserving of all people on earth to fear Allah?"Then the man turned away.Khalid said, "Messenger of Allah, shall I not strike off his neck?"The Messenger of Allah ﷺ replied, "Perhaps he prays."Khalid said, "How many a one prays who says with his tongue what is not in his heart."The Messenger of Allah ﷺ said, "I have not been commanded to bore into people's hearts, nor to split open their bellies."Then the Prophet ﷺ looked at him as he was walking away and said, "Indeed, from the offspring of this man will come a people who recite the Quran, but it will not pass beyond their throats. They will pass through religion as an arrow passes through its prey."
حدثنا محمد بن فضيل حدثنا عمارة بن القعقاع عن ابن أبي نعم

Its isnad is sahih. Muhammad bin Fudayl is trustworthy, though accused of Shiism. However, the hadith is found in the Sahihayn, in Bukhari 5/207, in the chapters on military expeditions, on the mission of Ali bin Abu Talib, and in Muslim 2/742, number 1064, in the chapter on zakat, mentioning the Khawarij and their characteristics.(1) "From the offspring of this one," meaning from his descendants.
