Ati said, "I have never prayed behind anyone whose prayer more closely resembled that of the Messenger of Allah ﷺ than so-and-so," naming a particular person.Dahhak said, Bukayr bin Abdullah related to me from Sulayman bin Yasar that he said, "I prayed behind that man, and I observed that he would lengthen the first two units of the noon prayer and shorten the last two. He would shorten the afternoon prayer. In the sunset prayer he would recite from the short surahs of the Mufassal section. In the night prayer he would recite By the sun and its brightness and surahs like it. Then in the dawn prayer he would recite from the long surahs of the Mufassal."
Its chain of transmission is sahih. It is found in Nasai, in the chapter on the opening of prayer, on shortening the standing and recitation, 2/164, no. 974, and similarly in Bukhari 1/198, Muslim 1/333, no. 451, and Abu Dawud 1/213, no. 803, from Saad.
