A funeral procession passed by the Messenger of Allah ﷺ, and the people praised the deceased, mentioning his good qualities. The Messenger of Allah ﷺ said, "It has become certain. You are Allah's witnesses on earth."Then another funeral procession passed by him, and the people spoke ill of the deceased, mentioning his bad qualities. The Messenger of Allah ﷺ said, "You are Allah's witnesses on earth."
حدثنا محمد بن عبيد حدثنا محمد يعني ابن عمرو عن أبي سلمة
مر رسول الله ﷺ بجنازة فأثنوا عليها خيرا من مناقب الخير فقال رسول الله ﷺ وجبت إنكم شهداء الله في الأرض ثم مر عليه بجنازة فأثنوا عليها شرا من مناقب الشر فقال رسول الله ﷺ إنكم شهداء الله في الأرض
