The Messenger of Allah ﷺ entered the mosque for the night prayer and found the people sitting in scattered groups. He became angrier than I had ever seen him before. Then he said, "If a man were to call the people to a bone with meat on it or to two sheep's hooves, they would come to him for that, yet they hold back from the prayer. I had a mind to order a man to lead the people in prayer, then go to the houses whose occupants stay away from this prayer and burn them down over their heads."
حدثنا يحيى بن آدم حدثنا أبو بكر بن عياش عن عاصم بن أبي النجود عن أبي صالح
دخل رسول الله ﷺ المسجد لصلاة العشاء الآخرة فإذا هم عزون متفرقون فغضب غضبا ما رأيته غضب غضبا قط أشد منه ثم قال لو أن رجلا نادى الناس إلى عرق أو مرماتين لأتوه لذلك وهم يتخلفون عن الصلاة لقد هممت أن آمر رجلا فليصل بالناس ثم أتبع أهل هذه الدور التي يتخلف أهلها عن هذه الصلاة فأضرمها عليهم بالنيران
