Abu Hurairah was on a journey, and when the group stopped to rest, they sent for him while he was praying. He said, "I am fasting."When they laid out the food and were almost finished eating, he came over. They said, "Come and eat."So he ate. The people looked at the messenger they had sent, who said, "What are you looking at?"He replied, "By Allah, he told us, 'I am fasting.'"Abu Hurairah said, "He spoke the truth. The Messenger of Allah ﷺ said, 'Fasting the month of patience and three days of every month is equivalent to fasting the entire year.' I have already fasted three days at the beginning of the month, so I am breaking my fast within Allah's concession while still considered fasting through Allah's multiplication of reward."

أن أبا هريرة كان في سفر فلما نزلوا أرسلوا إليه وهو يصلي فقال إني صائم فلما وضعوا الطعام وكاد أن يفرغوا جاء فقالوا هلم فكل فأكل فنظر القوم إلى الرسول فقال ما تنظرون فقال والله لقد قال إني صائم فقال أبو هريرة صدق وأن رسول الله ﷺ قال صوم شهر الصبر وثلاثة أيام من كل شهر صوم الدهر كله فقد صمت ثلاثة أيام من أول الشهر فأنا مفطر في تخفيف الله صائم في تضعيف الله
