The Messenger of Allah ﷺ said, "Whoever asks you in the name of Allah, give to him. Whoever invites you, accept his invitation. If a trotter were gifted to me, I would accept it, and if I were invited to a meal of a trotter, I would respond."
حدثنا أسود بن عامر أخبرنا أبو بكر بن عياش عن الأعمش عن أبي حازم
قال رسول الله ﷺ من سألكم بالله فأعطوه ومن دعاكم فأجيبوه ولو أهدي إلي كراع لقبلت ولو دعيت إلى كراع لأجبت
Its chain of transmission is sahih. Abu Dawud narrated it 2/128, no. 1672, in the chapter on zakat, giving to one who asks by Allah, as did Nasai 5/82, and Hakim 1/412, who graded it sahih, and Dhahabi agreed with him.
