The Messenger of Allah ﷺ commanded us to carefully examine the eye and the ear, and not to sacrifice an animal whose ear is split lengthwise, nor one whose ear is pierced with a hole, nor one whose ear has a piece cut from the front, nor one whose ear has a piece cut from the back.
