While Abu Hurairah was speaking to his companions, a man approached him in the gathering. The man came forward wearing a fine garment, strutting proudly in it, until he stood before Abu Hurairah and said, "Abu Hurairah, do you have any ruling for me concerning this garment of mine?"Abu Hurairah raised his head toward him and said, "The truthful and trustworthy one, my dear friend Abu Qasim ﷺ, told me, 'There was once a man among those who came before you who walked arrogantly between two cloaks. Allah became angry with him and commanded the earth, so it swallowed him. By the One in whose hand is my soul, he is sinking into it and will continue to do so until the Day of Resurrection.' Off you go, fellow, until the Day of Resurrection."

بينا أبو هريرة يحدث أصحابه إذ أقبل رجل إلى أبي هريرة وهو في المجلس فأقبل وعليه حلة له فجعل يميس فيها حتى قام على أبي هريرة فقال يا أبا هريرة هل عندك في حلتي هذه من فتيا فرفع رأسه إليه وقال حدثني الصادق المصدوق خليلي أبو القاسم ﷺ قال بينا رجل ممن كان قبلكم يتبختر بين بردين فغضب الله عليه فأمر الأرض فبلعته فوالذي نفسي بيده إنه ليتجلجل إلى يوم القيامة اذهب أيها الرجل إلى يوم القيامة
