The Messenger of Allah ﷺ said, "The protected area around a well is forty cubits in every direction, set aside as a resting place for camels and sheep. The traveler has the first right to drink. Surplus water must not be withheld in order to prevent others from grazing their animals on the surrounding pasture."
حدثنا هشيم قال أخبرنا عوف عن رجل حدثه
قال رسول الله ﷺ حريم البئر أربعون ذراعا من حواليها كلها لأعطان الإبل والغنم وابن السبيل أول شارب ولا يمنع فضل ماء ليمنع به الكلأ
