When the delegation of Abdul-Qays came to the Prophet ﷺ, he forbade them from using the green jar, the hollowed-out gourd, the vessel coated with pitch, and the leather skin with its mouth cut off. He told them, "Steep your drink in your waterskin, tie it shut, and drink it while it is still sweet and pleasant."A man said, "Messenger of Allah, allow me a vessel about this size."He replied, "Then you will make it this size."Yazid said, Hisham opened his hand slightly, and then said, "Then you will make it this size," opening his hand a bit wider than before.
حدثنا محمد بن جعفر قال حدثنا هشام ويزيد قال أخبرنا هشام عن محمد
أن وفد عبد القيس حيث قدموا على النبي ﷺ نهاهم عن الحنتم والنقير والمزفت والمزادة المجبوبة وقيل انتبذ في سقائك وأوكه واشربه حلوا طيبا فقال رجل يا رسول الله ائذن لي في مثل هذه قال إذن تجعلها مثل هذه قال يزيد وفتح هشام يده قليلا فقال إذن تجعلها مثل هذه وفتح يده شيئا أرفع من ذلك
