The Messenger of Allah ﷺ said, "There is no faraa and no atirah."Ibn Shihab said, "The faraa was when the people of the pre-Islamic era would slaughter the first offspring of their livestock, and the atirah was the sacrifice offered in Rajab."
حدثنا محمد بن جعفر قال حدثنا معمر قال حدثنا ابن شهاب عن ابن المسيب
قال رسول الله ﷺ لا فرع ولا عتيرة قال ابن شهاب والفرع كان أهل الجاهلية يذبحون أول نتاج يكون لهم والعتيرة ذبيحة رجب
Its isnad is sahih. Bukhari related it, 7/110, in the chapter on Aqiqah, on Atirah, and Muslim, 3/1564, number 1976, in the chapter on Adha sacrifices, similarly, and Abu Dawud, 3/105, number 2831, like Muslim. Tirmidhi, 4/95, number 1512, like Muslim, and he said, hasan sahih. Nasai, 7/167, and Ibn Majah, 2/1058, number 3168.
