Abd Khayr reported,

Ali said, when he had finished with the people of Basra, "The best of this community after its Prophet ﷺ is Abu Bakr, and after Abu Bakr, Umar. Then we brought about matters concerning which Allah will do as He wills."

قال علي رضي الله عنه لما فرغ من أهل البصرة إن خير هذه الأمة بعد نبيها ﷺ أبو بكر وبعد أبي بكر عمر وأحدثنا أحداثا يصنع الله فيها ما شاء
