Israil reported from Abu Ahwas and Aswad, from Abdullah, that the Prophet ﷺ used to give the salutation to his right and to his left until the whiteness of his cheek could be seen, saying, "Peace be upon you and the mercy of Allah, peace be upon you and the mercy of Allah."

وقال إسرائيل عن أبي الأحوص والأسود عن عبد الله أن النبي ﷺ كان يسلم عن يمينه وعن شماله حتى يرى بياض خده السلام عليكم ورحمة الله السلام عليكم ورحمة الله
Graded sahih. Reported by Tirmidhi, Prayer, chapter on what has been said regarding the taslim in prayer, no. 295, from the hadith of Sufyan Thawri, and he said, hasan sahih. Ibn Khuzayma graded it sahih, no. 728, as did Ibn Hibban, no. 516.Abu Ishaq made clear that he heard it directly, as recorded by Ahmad, 1/408, 409, no. 3879.
