Abu Misbah Muqri said, "We used to sit with Abu Zuhayr Numayri, who was one of the Companions. He would speak with the finest words, and whenever any of us made a supplication, he would say, 'Seal it with ameen, for ameen is like a stamp upon a document.'"Abu Zuhayr said, "Shall I tell you about that? We went out with the Messenger of Allah ﷺ one night and came upon a man who was persistent in his asking. The Prophet ﷺ stopped to listen to him, then said, 'He has secured it, if he seals it.'A man from the group asked, 'With what shall he seal it?'He replied, 'With ameen, for if he seals it with ameen, he has secured it.'The man who had questioned the Prophet ﷺ departed, and the other man went to him and said, 'Seal it, so-and-so, with ameen, and receive glad tidings.'"These are the words of Mahmud.
حدثنا الوليد بن عتبة الدمشقي ومحمود بن خالد قالا حدثنا الفريابي
حدثني أبو مصبح المقرائي قال كنا نجلس إلى أبي زهير النميري وكان من الصحابة فيتحدث أحسن الحديث فإذا دعا الرجل منا بدعاء قال اختمه بآمين فإن آمين مثل الطابع على الصحيفة قال أبو زهير أخبركم عن ذلك خرجنا مع رسول الله ﷺ ذات ليلة فأتينا على رجل قد ألح في المسألة فوقف النبي ﷺ يستمع منه فقال النبي ﷺ أوجب إن ختم فقال رجل من القوم بأي شيء يختم قال بآمين فإنه إن ختم بآمين فقد أوجب فانصرف الرجل الذي سأل النبي ﷺ فأتى الرجل فقال اختم يا فلان بآمين وأبشر وهذا لفظ محمود

[Its chain is daif] Baghawi related it in Sharh al-Sunnah, no. 1402, from the hadith of Abu Dawud. Subayh bin Mihraz is unknown in status, and no one but Ibn Hibban graded him reliable.
