The companions of the Prophet ﷺ complained to him about the difficulty of prostration when they had to spread their arms wide. He said, "Seek help by resting on your knees."
حدثنا قتيبة بن سعيد حدثنا الليث عن ابن عجلان عن سمي عن أبي صالح
اشتكى أصحاب النبي ﷺ مشقة السجود عليهم إذا انفرجوا فقال استعينوا بالركب
Its isnad is daif. Tirmidhi narrated it in the Book of Prayer, Chapter on what has been said about leaning on the hands in sujud, hadith 286, from Qutayba with this wording. Ibn Hibban graded it sahih, hadith 507, as did Hakim, who said it met the conditions of Muslim, 1/229, and Dhahabi agreed with him. Muhammad bin Ajlan was a mudallis, and I did not find explicit confirmation that he heard it directly. The two Sufyans contradicted him, transmitting it as a mursal report from Sumayy from Numan bin Abu Ayyash with this wording.
