The hands prostrate just as the face prostrates. So when one of you places his face down, let him place his hands down, and when he raises it, let him raise them.
حدثنا أحمد بن حنبل حدثنا إسمعيل يعني ابن إبراهيم عن أيوب عن نافع
إن اليدين تسجدان كما يسجد الوجه فإذا وضع أحدكم وجهه فليضع يديه وإذا رفعه فليرفعهما
[Its isnad is sahih]. Nasai narrated it in his chapter on tatbiq, in the section on placing the hands with the face during sujud, hadith no. 1093, from the hadith of Ismail bin Ulaya, through this same chain. It is also found in Musnad Ahmad, 6/2. Hakim graded it sahih according to the standard of Bukhari and Muslim, 1/226, 227, and Dhahabi agreed with him.
