The Messenger of Allah ﷺ said, "I am to you like a father, teaching you. When one of you goes to relieve himself, let him not face the qiblah nor turn his back to it, and let him not clean himself with his right hand."He used to instruct them to use three stones and forbade the use of dung and bones.
[Its isnad is hasan]. Nasai narrated it in the chapter on Purification, section on the prohibition of using dung for cleaning, hadith: 312, hadith: 40, and Ibn Majah, hadith 312, 313, from the hadith of Muhammad bin Ajlan, with this wording, and he stated explicitly that he heard it directly. Ibn Khuzayma graded it sahih, hadith: 80, as did Ibn Hibban (in al-Ihsan), hadith: 1432. Muslim also narrated it, hadith: 265, through another route from Qaqa, with the same content but in a shortened form.
