He attributed it to the Prophet ﷺ, who said, "When one of you prays toward a sutrah, let him draw close to it so that Satan does not cut off his prayer."
حدثنا محمد بن الصباح بن سفيان أخبرنا سفيان ح و حدثنا عثمان بن أبي شيبة وحامد بن يحيى وابن السرح قالوا حدثنا سفيان عن صفوان بن سليم عن نافع بن جبير
يبلغ به النبي ﷺ قال إذا صلى أحدكم إلى سترة فليدن منها لا يقطع الشيطان عليه صلاته
[Its isnad is sahih] Nasai narrated it, Qibla, chapter on the command to draw close to the sutrah, hadith: 749, from the hadith of Sufyan, through his route, and Ibn Khuzayma graded it sahih, hadith: 803, as did Ibn Hibban, hadith: 409, and Hakim, on the standard of the two Shaykhs, 1/251, 252, and Dhahabi concurred with him.
