Its isnad is hasan. Nasai narrated it in the chapter on qibla, the section on praying in a single shirt, no. 766, from the hadith of Musa bin Ibrahim, with the same wording, and he stated explicitly that he heard it directly in the version of Ahmad, 4/49. Ibn Khuzayma graded it sahih, no. 777, 778, as did Ibn Hibban (al-Ihsan), no. 2291, and Hakim, 1/250, and Dhahabi agreed with him. But Bukhari criticized it in his Sahih, Fath al-Bari, 1/465.
