Abu Masud Uqba bin Amr reported,

The Messenger of Allah ﷺ said, "The people should be led in prayer by the one among them who is most versed in the Book of Allah and who has been reciting it the longest. If they are equal in recitation, then the one who emigrated earliest should lead them. If they are equal in emigration, then the eldest among them should lead. A man should not lead the prayer in another man's home or in the place where that man holds authority, nor should he sit on his place of honor without his permission."Shuba said, I asked Ismail, "What is his place of honor?"He replied, "His cushion."
