A man asked the Prophet ﷺ, "Messenger of Allah, I am a man with weak eyesight whose home is far from the mosque, and I have a guide who does not suit me. Do I have permission to pray in my house?"The Prophet ﷺ asked, "Do you hear the call to prayer?"He replied, "Yes."The Prophet ﷺ said, "Then I find no permission for you."
[Its chain is daif]. Ibn Majah also narrated it in the Book of Mosques, chapter on the severity of missing the congregational prayer, hadith no. 792, from the hadith of Asim, with similar wording. The hadith has supporting narrations. Abu Razin narrated from Amr bin Umm Maktum as a mursal report, as stated by the Tabiin. The hadith of Muslim, no. 653, and Ahmad, 3/423, render it unnecessary.
