The Messenger of Allah ﷺ said, "The imam is a guarantor and the muezzin is entrusted. Allah, guide the imams aright and forgive the muezzins."
حدثنا أحمد بن حنبل حدثنا محمد بن فضيل حدثنا الأعمش عن رجل عن أبي صالح
قال رسول الله ﷺ الإمام ضامن والمؤذن مؤتمن اللهم أرشد الأئمة واغفر للمؤذنين
[Hasan] Reported by Tirmidhi, chapter on Prayer, section on what has been said that the imam is a guarantor and the muadhin is entrusted, no. 207, from the hadith of Amash from him, though he did not hear it from Abu Salih. The hadith has a corroborating narration in Ahmad, 65/6, with a hasan chain, and Ibn Khuzayma graded it sahih, 16/3, as did Ibn Hibban, no. 362.
