Ahmad said, on one occasion meaning Hushaym, narrating from one of the descendants of Ala, that Ala bin Hadrami was the appointed agent of the Prophet ﷺ over Bahrain. Whenever he wrote to him, he would begin with himself.

[Its chain of transmission is daif] Abu Naeem narrated it in Marifat al-Sahaba: 4/2198, 2199, no. 5510, from the hadith of Hushaym in this manner, and Abu Awana followed him in narrating it, and it is found in Musnad Ahmad: 4/339.Some of the children of Ala are of unknown status.
