Abu Zumayl reported,

I questioned Ibn Abbas and said, "There is something I find stirring in my chest."He asked, "What is it?"I said, "By Allah, I cannot bring myself to speak of it."He said to me, "Is it something of doubt?" and he laughed. Then he said, "No one has escaped that." He went on, "Until Allah revealed "So if you are in doubt about what We have revealed to you, then ask those who have been reading the Scripture before you" [Yunus 10:94], the verse.Then he told me, "Whenever you find something like that within yourself, say, 'He is the First and the Last, the Outward and the Inward, and He is Knowing of all things' [Hadid 57:3]."

سألت ابن عباس فقلت ما شيء أجده في صدري قال ما هو قلت والله ما أتكلم به قال فقال لي أشيء من شك قال وضحك قال ما نجا من ذلك أحد قال حتى أنزل الله عز وجل {فإن كنت في شك مما أنزلنا إليك فاسأل الذين يقرءون الكتاب من قبلك} الآية قال فقال لي إذا وجدت في نفسك شيئا فقل {هو الأول والآخر والظاهر والباطن وهو بكل شيء عليم}
