The Messenger of Allah ﷺ said, "When you hear the barking of dogs and the braying of donkeys at night, seek refuge with Allah, for they see what you do not see."
حدثنا هناد بن السري عن عبدة عن محمد بن إسحق عن محمد بن إبراهيم عن عطاء بن يسار
قال رسول الله ﷺ إذا سمعتم نباح الكلاب ونهيق الحمر بالليل فتعوذوا بالله فإنهن يرين ما لا ترون
Its isnad is hasan. Ahmad narrated it in 3/306 from the hadith of Muhammad bin Ishaq through this route, and he explicitly stated that he heard it directly. Ibn Khuzayma graded it sahih, h: 2559, as did Ibn Hibban, h: 1996, and Hakim in 1/445 and 4/283, 284, saying it meets the conditions of Muslim, and Dhahabi agreed with him regarding the first narration.
