The Messenger of Allah ﷺ said, "A dream rests on the wing of a flying bird as long as it remains uninterpreted, but once it is interpreted, it comes to pass." The narrator added, I think he also said, "And do not relate it except to a loving friend or someone of sound judgment."
[Its chain of transmission is hasan]Ibn Majah narrated it in the Book of the Interpretation of Dreams, chapter "A Dream Comes True When It Is Interpreted," etc., hadith no. 3914, from the hadith of Hushaym, with this wording. It is also found in Musnad Ahmad, 4/10. Tirmidhi said, hadith no. 2278, hasan sahih. Ibn Hibban graded it sahih, hadith nos. 1795 and 1797, as did Hakim, 4/390, and Dhahabi agreed with him.
