The Messenger of Allah ﷺ was using a tooth-stick while two men were with him, one older than the other. Allah revealed to him concerning the merit of the tooth-stick, "Give precedence to the elder. Hand the tooth-stick to the older of the two."Ahmad, who is Ibn Hazm, said that Abu Saeed, who is Ibn al-Arabi, told us that this is among what the people of Madinah alone have transmitted.
[Sahih]. The Hafiz graded it hasan in Fath al-Bari, 246. The hadith has many corroborating narrations in Ahmad, 2/138, and elsewhere, and some of them were mentioned by Bukhari as suspended reports in his Sahih, 1/356.
