I heard the Messenger of Allah ﷺ say, "It is a grave act of betrayal that you tell your brother something which he believes to be true from you, while you are lying to him."
حدثنا حيوة بن شريح الحضرمي إمام مسجد حمص حدثنا بقية بن الوليد عن ضبارة بن مالك الحضرمي عن أبيه عن عبد الرحمن بن جبير بن نفير عن أبيه
سمعت رسول الله ﷺ يقول كبرت خيانة أن تحدث أخاك حديثا هو لك به مصدق وأنت له به كاذب
[Its chain of transmission is daif] Bukhari recorded it in Adab al-Mufrad, no. 393, from Haywa bin Shurayh Al-Himsi, with this chain. Dabarah bin Malik and his father are both unknown narrators.
