The Messenger of Allah ﷺ said, "Mention the good qualities of your deceased and refrain from speaking of their faults."
حدثنا محمد بن العلاء أخبرنا معاوية بن هشام عن عمران بن أنس المكي عن عطاء
قال رسول الله ﷺ اذكروا محاسن موتاكم وكفوا عن مساويهم
Its chain of transmission is daif. Tirmidhi narrated it, in the Book of Funerals, chapter, Another Chapter on the Command to Mention the Good Qualities of the Dead and Refrain from Their Faults, hadith 1019, from Muhammad bin Ala Abu Kurayb, with this same wording. He said, "It is gharib. I heard Muhammad Bukhari say, Imran bin Anas Makki is munkar al-hadith."
