The Messenger of Allah ﷺ said, "When a man tells something to another and then turns away, it is a trust."
حدثنا أبو بكر بن أبي شيبة حدثنا يحيى بن آدم حدثنا ابن أبي ذئب عن عبد الرحمن بن عطاء عن عبد الملك بن جابر بن عتيك
قال رسول الله ﷺ إذا حدث الرجل بالحديث ثم التفت فهي أمانة
Its isnad is hasan. Tirmidhi narrated it in "Al-Bir wal-Sila," the chapter on what has been said regarding gatherings held in trust, hadith no. 1959, from the hadith of Muhammad bin Abdul-Rahman bin Abu Dhib, with this wording, and he said, "hasan." It is also found in Musannaf Ibn Abu Shayba, 8/402.
