The Messenger of Allah ﷺ said, "There are four traits, whoever possesses them all is a pure hypocrite, and whoever possesses one of them has a trait of hypocrisy until he abandons it. When he speaks, he lies. When he promises, he breaks it. When he makes a pact, he betrays it. And when he disputes, he behaves wickedly."
Muslim narrated it in the Book of Faith, Chapter on the Characteristics of the Hypocrite, no. 58, from Abu Bakr bin Abu Shayba with this chain, and it is also in his Musannaf, 8/405, 406. Bukhari also narrated it, no. 34, from the hadith of Amash with this chain.
