Qays bin Abbad reported,

I said to Ali , "Tell us about this expedition of yours. Is it something the Messenger of Allah ﷺ entrusted to you, or is it your own judgment?"He replied, "The Messenger of Allah ﷺ did not entrust anything to me about it. It is simply my own judgment."

قلت لعلي رضي الله عنه أخبرنا عن مسيرك هذا أعهد عهده إليك رسول الله ﷺ أم رأي رأيته فقال ما عهد إلي رسول الله ﷺ بشيء ولكنه رأي رأيته
