The Messenger of Allah ﷺ ruled regarding the blood-money of a mukatab who is killed that he is to be compensated according to the portion of his contract he has paid off at the rate of a free man's blood-money, and for what remains at the rate of a slave's blood-money.
Its isnad is daif. Nasai narrated it in the Book of Qasamah, Chapter on the Blood Money of the Contracted Slave, no. 4814, from the hadith of Yaala bin Ubayd, in this same manner, and Ibn Jarud graded it sahih, no. 982. Yahya bin Abu Kathir is a mudallis and narrated it using "an" (indicating possible concealment in the chain).
