The Messenger of Allah ﷺ commanded that mosques be built in the neighborhoods, kept clean, and perfumed.
حدثنا محمد بن العلاء حدثنا حسين بن علي عن زائدة عن هشام بن عروة عن أبيه
أمر رسول الله ﷺ ببناء المساجد في الدور وأن تنظف وتطيب
Sourcing, [sahih] Reported by Tirmidhi, Prayer, chapter on what has been mentioned regarding perfuming mosques, no. 594, and Ibn Majah, no. 758, from the hadith of Hisham bin Urwa in this manner, and Ibn Hibban graded it sahih, no. 306.
