Waail bin Hajar reported,

A man came to the Prophet ﷺ with an Abyssinian and said, "This man killed my nephew."The Prophet ﷺ asked, "How did you kill him?"He replied, "I struck his head with an axe, but I did not intend to kill him."The Prophet ﷺ asked, "Do you have any wealth with which to pay his blood-money?"He answered, "No."The Prophet ﷺ asked, "What if I send you to ask people to help gather his blood-money?"He said, "No."The Prophet ﷺ asked, "Will your masters pay his blood-money on your behalf?"He replied, "No."So the Prophet ﷺ said to the man, "Take him." The man took him out to kill him, and the Messenger of Allah ﷺ said, "If he kills him, he will be just like him."These words reached the man within his hearing, and he said, "Here he is, do with him as you wish."The Messenger of Allah ﷺ said, "Release him." Mura said in his version, "Let him go and bear the sin of his victim along with his own sin, so that he will be among the people of the Fire." So he released him.
