Whenever the Prophet ﷺ went to relieve himself, I would bring him water in a small vessel or a leather pouch, and he would cleanse himself with it.

[Its chain is hasan]. Nasai narrated it in "Purification," chapter on rubbing the hand on the ground after relieving oneself, no. 50, from Muhammad bin Abdullah bin Mubarak Makhrami, through the same chain, and Ibn Hibban graded it sahih (Mawarid), hadith no. 138.* The hadith number appearing in the original copies of Sunan Abu Dawud is an error, see Awn al-Mabud 1/68.
