Abu Saeed reported,

When the Prophet ﷺ ordered that Maez bin Malik be stoned, we took him out to Baqi. By Allah, we neither tied him up nor dug a pit for him, but he simply stood there before us.Abu Kamil said in his version, "We pelted him with bones, clods of earth, and pieces of pottery. He ran off and we ran after him until he reached the open ground of the lava field. There he stood upright facing us, and we pelted him with the boulders of the lava field until he fell silent."The narrator said, "He neither asked forgiveness for him nor cursed him."This is not the complete version. He said, they set about cursing him and he forbade them. Then they set about asking forgiveness for him and he forbade them. He said, "He is a man who committed a sin, and Allah will call him to account."
