The Messenger of Allah ﷺ was on a journey when the company slept past the dawn prayer. They awoke to the heat of the sun. They moved on a short distance until the sun had fully risen, then he ordered a caller to give the call to prayer. He prayed two rakahs before the dawn prayer, then the iqamah was made and he prayed the dawn prayer.
حدثنا وهب بن بقية عن خالد عن يونس بن عبيد عن الحسن
أن رسول الله ﷺ كان في مسير له فناموا عن صلاة الفجر فاستيقظوا بحر الشمس فارتفعوا قليلا حتى استقلت الشمس ثم أمر مؤذنا فأذن فصلى ركعتين قبل الفجر ثم أقام ثم صلى الفجر
Its isnad is daif. Ahmad narrated it (4/431) from the hadith of Yunus bin Ubayd. Ibn Khuzayma graded it sahih (no. 994), as did Ibn Hibban (Al-Ihsan: 1459) and Hakim (1/274), and Dhahabi agreed with him. The hadith has corroborating witnesses. Hasan Basri and Hisham bin Hassan are both mudallis narrators, and they both narrated with "an" (without an explicit statement of direct hearing).
