I was among the captives of Banu Qurayza. They would examine us, and whoever had grown pubic hair was killed, and whoever had not was spared. I was among those who had not grown it.

[Its chain of transmission is sahih] Tirmidhi transmitted it in the Book of Military Expeditions, in the chapter on what has been said about surrendering to arbitration, no. 1584, as did Nasai, no. 3460, and Ibn Majah, nos. 2541 and 2542, from the hadith of Sufyan Thawri and Sufyan bin Uyayna, both of them from Abdul-Malik, with this same chain.Ibn Jarud graded it sahih, no. 1045, as did Ibn Hibban in Al-Ihsan, no. 4760, and Hakim, 3/35, and Dhahabi agreed with him.
