I saw one of them gnawing at the ground with his mouth from thirst until they died. Then he forbade mutilation, and he did not mention cutting from opposite sides.Shuba narrated it from Qatada, and Salam bin Miskin from Thabit, both of them from Anas, and neither of them mentioned cutting from opposite sides. I have not found in anyone's narration the wording that their hands and feet were cut off from opposite sides except in the narration of Hammad bin Salama.
حدثنا محمد بن بشار حدثنا ابن أبي عدي عن هشام عن قتادة عن أنس بن مالك بهذا الحديث نحوه زاد ثم نهى عن المثلة ولم يذكر من خلاف ورواه شعبة عن قتادة وسلام بن مسكين عن ثابت جميعا عن أنس لم يذكرا من خلاف ولم أجد في حديث أحد قطع أيديهم وأرجلهم من خلاف إلا في حديث حماد بن سلمة
Bukhari narrated it in the Book of Zakat, Chapter on Using the Camels of Zakat and Their Milk for Travelers, Hadith: 1501, from the hadith of Shuba from Qatada, and Ahmad: 3/877, from the hadith of Hisham with the same wording. The hadith of Salam bin Miskin was narrated by Bukhari: 5685.
