When the Messenger of Allah ﷺ was returning from the Khaybar expedition, he traveled through the night until, when drowsiness overtook us, he stopped to rest. He said to Bilal, "Keep watch through the night for us."Bilal's eyes overcame him while he was leaning against his mount, and neither the Prophet ﷺ nor Bilal nor any of his companions woke up until the sun struck them. The Messenger of Allah ﷺ was the first of them to awaken, and he was alarmed. He called out, "Bilal!"Bilal replied, "The same thing that took hold of your soul took hold of mine, may my father and mother be sacrificed for you, Messenger of Allah."So they led their mounts a short distance, then the Prophet ﷺ performed ablution and ordered Bilal to call the iqamah for the prayer, and he led them in the dawn prayer. When he finished the prayer, he said, "Whoever forgets a prayer should pray it when he remembers it, for Allah the Exalted has said, 'Establish the prayer for remembrance' [Ta-Ha 20:14]."Yunus said, Ibn Shihab used to recite it that way.Ahmad said, Anbasah said, meaning from Yunus, in this hadith, "for My remembrance."Ahmad said, al-kara means drowsiness.
