I heard the Messenger of Allah ﷺ say, "This religion will remain mighty until twelve caliphs."The people then shouted in acclaim and clamored. Then he said something quietly.I asked my father, "Father, what did he say?"He replied, "He said, 'All of them will be from Quraysh.'"
حدثنا موسى بن إسمعيل حدثنا وهيب حدثنا داود عن عامر
سمعت رسول الله ﷺ يقول لا يزال هذا الدين عزيزا إلى اثني عشر خليفة قال فكبر الناس وضجوا ثم قال كلمة خفيفة قلت لأبي يا أبت ما قال قال كلهم من قريش
Muslim narrated it in the chapter on leadership, in the section "People follow Quraysh, and the caliphate belongs to Quraysh," hadith no. 1821, from the hadith of Dawud bin Abu Hind, from Amir Shaybi, with this wording.
