The Messenger of Allah ﷺ said to me, "Say, 'O Allah, guide me and make me steadfast.' When you mention guidance, have in mind the guidance of finding the right path, and when you mention steadfastness, have in mind the straightness of an arrow."He also forbade me from placing a ring on this finger or this one, meaning the index finger and the middle finger (Asim was uncertain which), and he forbade me from wearing qassi garments and from sitting on mayathir saddle cushions.

قال لي رسول الله ﷺ قل اللهم اهدني وسددني واذكر بالهداية هداية الطريق واذكر بالسداد تسديدك السهم قال ونهاني أن أضع الخاتم في هذه أو في هذه للسبابة والوسطى شك عاصم ونهاني عن القسية والميثرة
Reported by Bukhari, Clothing, chapter on wearing silk mixed fabric, before hadith no. 5838, as a suspended narration, and by Muslim, Clothing, chapter on the prohibition of wearing a ring on the middle finger and the one next to it, hadith no. 64/2078, after hadith no. 2095, from the hadith of Asim bin Kulayb, with this same wording.
