Thawban reported,

Thawban, the freed servant of the Messenger of Allah ﷺ, reported that whenever the Messenger of Allah ﷺ set out on a journey, the last person from his household he would see was Fatimah, and she was the first he would visit upon his return.Once he came back from a military expedition, and she had hung up a coarse cloth, or a curtain, over her door and had adorned Hasan and Husayn with two silver bracelets. When he arrived, he did not enter. She thought that what had kept him from entering was what he had seen, so she tore down the curtain, removed the two bracelets from the boys, and cut it up between them. The two boys went to the Messenger of Allah ﷺ crying. He took the items from them and said, "Thawban, take this to the household of so-and-so in Medina. These are my family, and I do not wish for them to consume their good things in this worldly life. Thawban, buy Fatimah a necklace of asab beads and two ivory bracelets."

عن ثوبان

مولى رسول الله ﷺ قال كان رسول الله ﷺ إذا سافر كان آخر عهده بإنسان من أهله فاطمة وأول من يدخل عليها إذا قدم فاطمة فقدم من غزاة له وقد علقت مسحا أو سترا على بابها وحلت الحسن والحسين قلبين من فضة فقدم فلم يدخل فظنت أن ما منعه أن يدخل ما رأى فهتكت الستر وفككت القلبين عن الصبيين وقطعته بينهما فانطلقا إلى رسول الله ﷺ وهما يبكيان فأخذه منهما وقال يا ثوبان اذهب بهذا إلى آل فلان أهل بيت بالمدينة إن هؤلاء أهل بيتي أكره أن يأكلوا طيباتهم في حياتهم الدنيا يا ثوبان اشتر لفاطمة قلادة من عصب وسوارين من عاج
