I am the most knowledgeable of people regarding the time of this prayer, the last evening prayer. The Messenger of Allah ﷺ used to pray it at the setting of the moon on the third night.
حدثنا مسدد حدثنا أبو عوانة عن أبي بشر عن بشير بن ثابت عن حبيب بن سالم
أنا أعلم الناس بوقت هذه الصلاة صلاة العشاء الآخرة كان رسول الله ﷺ يصليها لسقوط القمر لثالثة
[Its isnad is sahih] Tirmidhi narrated it in the Book of Prayer, chapter on what has been said regarding the time of the last night prayer, hadith no. 165, and Nasai, hadith no. 530, from the hadith of Abu Awana through this same chain.
