The Messenger of Allah ﷺ came to us and saw a man whose hair was unkempt and disheveled. He said, "Could this man not find something to tidy his hair?"Then he saw another man wearing dirty clothes and said, "Could this man not find water to wash his garment?"
حدثنا النفيلي حدثنا مسكين عن الأوزاعي ح و حدثنا عثمان بن أبي شيبة عن وكيع عن الأوزاعي نحوه عن حسان بن عطية عن محمد بن المنكدر
أتانا رسول الله ﷺ فرأى رجلا شعثا قد تفرق شعره فقال أما كان يجد هذا ما يسكن به شعره ورأى رجلا آخر وعليه ثياب وسخة فقال أما كان هذا يجد ماء يغسل به ثوبه
Its isnad is sahih. Nasai narrated it in the Book of Adornment, chapter on smoothing down the hair, hadith no. 5238, from the hadith of Uzai through this same chain, and he explicitly stated the continuous chain of direct hearing in Tamhid 5/52, and he was not among those known for tadlis.
