The Messenger of Allah ﷺ recited it as "and an eye for an eye".

[Its chain is daif] Tirmidhi transmitted it in the Book of Recitations, chapter on the Opening of the Book, hadith no. 2929, from Muhammad bin Ala with this chain, and he said, hasan gharib. Zuhri used an ambiguous form of transmission (an'ana). See the following hadith.
