A man freed six slaves at the time of his death, and he had no other property besides them. When this reached the Prophet ﷺ, he spoke harshly about him. Then he called for the slaves, divided them into three groups, drew lots between them, freed two, and kept four in slavery.
حدثنا سليمان بن حرب حدثنا حماد بن زيد عن أيوب عن أبي قلابة عن أبي المهلب
أن رجلا أعتق ستة أعبد عند موته ولم يكن له مال غيرهم فبلغ ذلك النبي ﷺ فقال له قولا شديدا ثم دعاهم فجزأهم ثلاثة أجزاء فأقرع بينهم فأعتق اثنين وأرق أربعة
