Salman reported that the Prophet ﷺ was asked about locusts, and he replied, "They are the most numerous of Allah's troops. I do not eat them, nor do I forbid them."
[Its chain is daif]Ibn Majah narrated it in the Book of Hunting, Chapter on Hunting Fish and Locusts, no. 3219, from Nasr bin Ali with the same wording.Abu Awwam was rated trustworthy by Ibn Hibban alone, and Sulayman Taymi corroborated him. The mursal hadith serves as a supporting witness for it, but Taymi was a mudallis, so it is possible he practiced tadlis from him or from someone else.
