I was with Ibn Umar when he was asked about eating hedgehog. He recited, "Say, I do not find within that which was revealed to me anything forbidden" [Anam 6:145].An old man with him said, "I heard Abu Hurayrah say that it was mentioned in the presence of the Prophet ﷺ, and he said, 'It is a vile creature among the vile creatures.'"Ibn Umar said, "If the Messenger of Allah ﷺ said this, then it is as he said, something we did not know."

كنت عند ابن عمر فسئل عن أكل القنفذ فتلا {قل لا أجد فيما أوحي إلي محرما} الآية قال قال شيخ عنده سمعت أبا هريرة يقول ذكر عند النبي ﷺ فقال خبيثة من الخبائث فقال ابن عمر إن كان قال رسول الله ﷺ هذا فهو كما قال ما لم ندر
Its isnad is daif. Ahmad reported it, 2/381, from the hadith of Saeed bin Mansur, through this route, and Bayhaqi related it, 9/326, from the hadith of Abu Dawud, through this route. Isa bin Numayla and his father are both unknown, and there is a shaykh whom I have not been able to identify.
